LORIENT, France (AP) - Paris Saint-Germain are on the verge of securing a record-extending 12th Ligue 1 title after a comfortable victory over Lorient at the Stade du Moustoir. Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe were on target for the visitors, who now need just one more point to clinch the championship.
PSG started the match brightly and took the lead in the 13th minute when Neymar squared the ball to Dembele, who fired home from close range. Kylian Mbappe doubled the advantage 15 minutes later with a clinical finish after being played in by Lionel Messi.
Lorient improved after the break, but they were unable to find a way past the PSG defense, marshaled by Presnel Kimpembe and Marquinhos. The hosts did create a few chances, but they failed to convert any of them, and PSG held on to secure all three points.
The victory moves PSG 12 points clear of second-placed Marseille, who have a game in hand. With just five games remaining, it is now almost inevitable that PSG will be crowned champions for the eighth time in the last ten years.
