Eurovision Song Contest: Dutch Entry Disqualified Over Rule Violation
Dutch Artist Joost Klein Removed from Competition
Incident Involving Unauthorized Social Media Post Leads to Disqualification
In a surprising turn of events, Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS has announced the disqualification of their entry, Joost Klein, from the Eurovision Song Contest following a rule violation.
According to AVROTROS, Klein breached Eurovision rules by posting unauthorized content on social media, specifically a video clip of his Eurovision performance. The rules of the competition strictly prohibit the release of any official performance footage prior to the live broadcasts.
"We are very disappointed and upset over the situation," AVROTROS said in a statement. "We understand that Joost's enthusiasm may have gotten the better of him, but the rules are clear and must be respected."
The incident has led to the disqualification of Klein's song, "Europapa," from the competition. The Netherlands will now be represented by the runner-up from their national selection, Jeangu Macrooy.
