Coppola's 'Megalopolis' Faces Set Issues Just Before Cannes Debut
Coppola's Sci-Fi Epic Nears Completion
Coppola's 'Megalopolis' Project's Long Journey to Completion
Francis Ford Coppola has poured his heart and soul, along with $120 million of his own money, into his latest sci-fi epic, 'Megalopolis.' After reviving the project in 2019, filming commenced in November 2022 and wrapped in March 2023, featuring an all-star cast including Nathalie Emmanuel, Giancarlo Esposito, Aubrey Plaza, and Adam Driver.
In a recent revelation, just days ahead of the film's debut at Cannes Film Festival, reports have emerged of tensions on set due to creative differences with the crew. Coppola, determined to maintain artistic control, has reportedly sold part of his Northern California winery estate to self-fund the ambitious project.
Despite the setbacks, Coppola remains optimistic, declaring that 'Megalopolis' is "the best work I've ever had the privilege to preside." The film's highly anticipated debut at Cannes is expected to shed light on the culmination of Coppola's half-a-century-long journey with the project.
