Protests following the in-custody death of George Floyd in Minneapolis were mostly peaceful in Los Angeles before taking a violent turn. Los Angeles County saw some of the most widespread protests and civil unrest in the nation.
The Echoes of Rodney King
The parallels with the Rodney King riots are clear: both sparked widespread public outrage over police brutality and racial injustice. However, much has changed since 1992. Today's protests are more decentralized and less focused on a single incident. They are also more representative of the diverse communities that make up Los Angeles County.
