9/11: Remembering the Lives Lost

A Tragic Toll

On September 11, 2001, the world witnessed one of the most devastating terrorist attacks in history. The attacks, targeting the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., claimed the lives of thousands of innocent victims.

World Trade Center

At the World Trade Center, 2,753 people lost their lives, including 343 firefighters who heroically risked their own lives to save others.

Pentagon

At the Pentagon, 184 people were killed, including 55 military personnel and 125 civilians.

Other Locations

In addition to the victims at the World Trade Center and Pentagon, 40 people died on United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers attempted to regain control of the plane from the hijackers.

Total Loss of Life

In total, 2,977 people, not including the 19 hijackers, were killed in the 9/11 attacks. This tragic loss left an immeasurable void in the lives of countless families and communities.
